Our Arizona Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) class is a non-shooting course that fully satisfies the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) training requirement to obtain a CCW permit.

What the Course Covers:

This in-depth class is designed to give you essential knowledge and tools for responsible concealed carry. Topics include:

  • Defensive pistol selection

  • Legal use of force and firearm laws

  • Situational awareness and what to do before, during, and after a defensive incident

  • Firearms safety and ownership basics

  • Ethical and legal responsibilities of concealed carry

Instructor Credentials:

Our instructors bring a diverse range of credentials and real-world experience to the classroom. They are certified by respected organizations such as the USCCA, NRA, and Front Sight, and many come from backgrounds in the military, law enforcement, and other highly trained professions.

Why Get a CCW in a Constitutional Carry State?

While Arizona allows permitless concealed carry, there are several key advantages to having a CCW permit:

  1. Reciprocity – Many other states recognize the Arizona CCW, including Nevada. This means you can legally carry in those states with your permit.

  2. Federal School Zone Law Compliance – Federal law (18 USC 922(q)(2)(A)) restricts carrying a firearm within 1,000 feet of a school unless you have a state-issued permit like the AZ CCW.

  3. Faster Firearm Purchases – A valid CCW allows for quicker processing when purchasing firearms.

  4. Legal Protection – A CCW demonstrates proactive training and responsibility, which can help in court if you’re ever involved in a defensive incident.

  5. Carry in Alcohol-Serving Establishments – The permit allows you to carry concealed in places that serve alcohol (as long as you’re not drinking).

  6. City, State, and National Parks – A valid CCW is required to legally carry a firearm into city, state, and national parks within Arizona.

    • Application Fee: Arizona charges a $60 fee that can be paid any time after the class.

    Note: DPS does not accept fingerprint clearance cards—even from DPS itself or federal agencies. You must submit new fingerprint cards.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Who can take the class?
    Anyone interested in responsible firearm ownership and legal carry is welcome. While the permit is only issued to those 21+ (or 19+ with military service), the class is educational and open to nearly all ages.

    Eligibility requirements to apply for a CCW permit:

    • U.S. citizen or Arizona resident

    • 21 or older (or 19+ with proof of current or former military service)

    • No felony convictions or disqualifying legal restrictions

    • Not adjudicated mentally incompetent

    • Not unlawfully present in the U.S.

    • Completion of a DPS-approved firearms safety course (this class qualifies)

    Can I register friends or family?
    Yes! You can reserve multiple seats through our registration form.

    Please do not bring firearms or live ammunition. This is a non-shooting, classroom-only course.

    Rescheduling, Cancellation, Refund, and Payment Dispute Policy

    Requests to reschedule a class must be received by Safe Arizona Firearms Education, LLC no fewer than forty-eight (48) hours prior to the scheduled class start time. Subject to availability, approved reschedule requests will be accommodated through a one-time transfer to a future class upon payment of a non-refundable administrative transfer fee equal to fifty percent (50%) of the original registration fee.

    Registrations canceled, as well as registrations for which the participant fails to attend without prior approval, are considered forfeited and are not eligible for refund, credit, or transfer except where otherwise required by applicable law.

    By completing registration, the customer acknowledges and agrees that any payment dispute, chargeback, reversal, or similar action initiated contrary to these terms may result in forfeiture of all services provided by Safe Arizona Firearms Education, LLC as well as liability for all reasonable costs and expenses incurred by Safe Arizona Firearms Education, LLC in responding to and resolving the matter. Such costs may include, where permitted by law, payment processor fees, banking fees, administrative expenses, collection costs, court costs, and reasonable attorney’s fees. The customer further agrees to reimburse these amounts and any additional administrative charges permitted under applicable law.
